Interim President

B.A. Brown University, 1986
J.D. Yale, 1991
Ph.D. Penn, 1997

Former Provost Wendell Pritchett took office in February 2022 when Amy Gutmann departed to become Ambassador to Germany. He served until Liz Magill began her tenure as Penn’s ninth president on July 1, 2022.
While interim president, Pritchett—who has had a strong connection to Penn throughout his entire life—was active on campus, moderating the annual Silfen Forum, recognizing the 2022 President’s Engagement, Innovation, and Sustainability Prize winners, kicking off major expansion projects on campus, celebrating Penn’s first fully in-person Commencement since before the COVID-19 pandemic, and much more.
