Rui Rui Sculpture Dedication
November 8, 2025
Penn President J. Larry Jameson joined artist Jaume Plensa, donors Glenn, W’87, WG’88, and Amanda Fuhrman, C'95, student speaker Ava Cappitelli, C'26, and members of the Penn and Philadelphia communities to dedicate Rui Rui, a 23-foot cast-iron sculpture now installed in the Harrison Garden at the Penn Museum. A generous gift from the Fuhrmans, both Penn alumni and longtime arts patrons, Rui Rui is the first public work by Plensa in Philadelphia and a monumental addition to the Penn Art Collection. Modeled and named after the artist’s daughter-in-law, who was also in attendance, the sculpture reinforces Penn’s commitment to cultural and creative vitality, and joins Simone Leigh’s Brick House—also brought to campus by the Fuhrmans—as a landmark of public art and inspiration.
